Frequently Asked Questions

What is a chess clock increment?
Increment is extra seconds added to your clock after each move. In a 3+2 game you start with 3 minutes and gain 2 seconds after every move you make — preventing losses on time in near-finished positions.
What are the standard time controls?
Bullet: under 3 min. Blitz: 3–10 min. Rapid: 15–60 min. Classical: over 60 min. Popular online presets: 1+0, 3+2, 5+0, 5+3, 10+0, 15+10.
How do I use this on my phone?
Place the phone between the two players. The top clock is rotated 180° so both players can read their time naturally. Tap your half of the screen after each move.
What happens when time runs out?
The panel turns red and shows a ⚑ flag. The timer stops. In a real game, the flagged player loses unless their opponent has insufficient mating material.
Can I pause the game?
Yes — press the Start/Pause button in the centre bar. Both clocks freeze. Tap Resume or either player panel to continue.
What is the difference between bullet and blitz?
Bullet chess is under 3 minutes per player, demanding very fast moves. Blitz gives 3–10 minutes, allowing brief thinking time. Both are faster than rapid and classical formats.
Does this work offline?
Yes. Once the page loads, the timer runs entirely in your browser. Save the page to use it with no internet connection.
